16. If you were an element on the Periodic Table, which would you be and why?
When I was in elementary school, I feel like at one point I had to do a report on an element! I picked iridium, because I liked the way it sounded. There was a whole lot that I liked about it — that it was found so much on meteorites, that it was so brittle and yet one of the toughest materials on earth, that kind of thing. It’s always been a word that’s stuck with me too! So, maybe that one?
26. Which mythological creature are you most like? Why? And if you could be any mythological creature, which would you want to be? Why?
Ooh. Hmm. Most like actually… that’s a little tough. I really, really, really like trickster characters, culture heroes, that sort of thing: Coyote, Anansi, El-ahrairah (shh, he counts!). There’s such a range to them too — creator, clown, butt of a joke, teacher, all in the same character. I like that they’re boundary-breakers and rebels, and that they make the world interesting. So, if that’s not too presumptuous, maybe them?
If I could be any mythological creature… bwahaha, so many choices! Some sort of shapeshifter. Or a witch! Or if I have to pick just one, there has to be some culture out there with an awesome whale deity. I would frankly love to be a whale.
